Rapid City - July 1st & 2nd - Red, White & Blue Shoot
Schlecht Wins Red, White & Blue Shoot---Again!
Darcy Schlecht of Rapid City won the annual Red, White & Blue Shoot for the second year in a row. The shoot was held at the Rapid City Trap Club on July 1st and 2nd.
Darcy won the title with his score of 584 of 600 broken birds over the two day event. He was also victorious in the 16 yard singles event with his score of 198 x 200 and was crowned the Handicap champion with a 194 of 200. His pair of 97’s in handicap won him a trip to the 26 yard line after receiving two full yards in that competition.
Matt Ziegler of Rapid City received a trip to the back fence (the 27 yard line) after shooting back to back 96’s in the Handicap event. He was the 25-26 yard winner with a 192 x 200 dead birds.
Jim Commet of Rapid City blasted 195 of 200 twin birds to win the Doubles Champion title. He was followed closely by Eric Peil and Walt Taylor, both with 194’s, who had to settle the Class AA Doubles title with a shootoff. Peil was declared the winner after the extra targets were shot.
Peil, of Martin SD, was also honored for breaking his 25,000th singles target during Saturday’s singles event. He was presented with a cake for his outstanding record.
