Locals Win at Wyoming State Trap Shoot Competition
Several trapshooters from the Rapid City Trap Club brought home trophies from the recent Wyoming State Trap Shoot Competition held in Torrington, Wyoming.
Matt Bartholow, Bill Powers, Floyd Stolz, Colton Kant and Kimberly Ziegler all won Preliminary and Championship honors in the Out of State division of the Wyoming State Shoot held June 28- July 2.
Matt Bartholow won the Junior title of the Kiner Doubles Preliminary with a 95 of 100 twin birds and Bill Powers was named the Senior Vet winner in the same competition with an 87 of 100 birds shot.
Bartholow was also the Jr. Winner in the Danielson Singles Preliminary event with a perfect score of 100 x 100, and Floyd Stolz was the Sr. Vet winner in the Danielson Singles with his 97 x 100 dead birds.
Bartholow and Stolz continued their dominance in their respective categories in the Out of State Singles Championship event held the next day, with Matt taking the Jr. Champion trophy with a 199 x 200 and Stolz taking the Sr. Vet Champion trophy again with 196 x 200.
Bartholow was crowned the Out of State Doubles Champion with his perfect 100 x 100 twin birds shot in the Championship event, and Colton Kant of New Underwood was honored with the sixth place trophy in the Handicap Championship with a score of 96 x 100. Bill Powers won the Sr. Vet Champion trophy during the Championship event with an 88 x 100 score.
Scores were added for events 4-9, and Bartholow was named the High All Around Jr. winner with a total score of 675 x 700, and Powers was named the Sr. Vet winner with a total of 637 x 700 points. High Over All honors (events 7-9) went to Kimberly Ziegler for Class B with her 374 of 400 score, Matt Bartholow who shot 389 x 400 and Bill Powers with a 367 x 400.
Shooters will now compete at the South Dakota State Trap Shoot in Sioux Falls July 12- 16.
